History/Company Profile:
It all began in 1972 when a few of us who were college students back
then decided to open a restaurant instead of another book. Nearly
30 years later, most of us are still running the place, except now
the place is a billion-dollar public company with more than 500 restaurants
in nearly every state in America and in countries from Iceland to
India. Who would’ve guessed?
Way back in 1972, we named that first restaurant after the Rolling
Stones’ song because we couldn’t agree on anything else
(fortunately, Chuck Berry’s 1972 hit My Ding-A-Ling was not
on the radio when that decision was made). We opened without printed
menus (actually, somebody was writing them by hand when the first
guests walked in), and the guy who’s now CEO and the guy who’s
now President ended the first day washing dishes.
We look back on those days with fondness and remind one another that
although we sometimes didn’t know what the heck we were doing,
what we did do right was never lose sight of being a great restaurant
that happened to have a good bar, not a bar where food was an afterthought.
When the 70’s was a happy hour singles scene, we never forgot
our focus on food. Eventually, those singles got married, built careers,
had families and cared about dining out instead of just drinking out.
Today, they are our guests, and they visit us in the millions (thank
you, thank you, thank you…).
We are still learning, still growing, still joking, and still working
just as hard as we did years ago. And, you know what? We’re
still having fun.
Ruby Tuesday’s concept is based around their salad bar. They
have a full menu with many items, but their feature item is their
salad bar. Unfortunately, several guests have sprained jaw muscles
saying WOW! and have been unable to finish their meals. WOW! is what
we promise, and it’s what we deliver. Big servings, quick service
and delicious alternatives for everyone. It’s quality that you
can trust.
