Rusty Pelican Seafood
The company does operate stores under the Rusty Pelican brand, but their plans are to convert Rusty Pelicans to Bubba Gump’s.

 

Locations:
San Francisco, Monterey, Santa Monica, Long Beach, Oahu, Kona, Maui, Breckenridge, Chicago, New Orleans, Charleston, Daytona Beach, Miami, Osaka, Japan, and Minneapolis, MN.

 

History/Company Profile:
Started in 1996 as a joint venture between Paramount Pictures and Rusty Pelican. Paramount put up the front money, and controls the retail/merchandizing side of the business, and let Rusty Pelican take over responsibility for daily operations.

 

Menu:
Shrimp, shrimp, and more shrimp. They do have menu items without seafood (ribs, hamburgers, and a few appetizers), but you don’t go to Ruth’s Chris for the salmon do ya?

 

Benefits:

 

Vacations: 2 weeks, years 1-4, 3 weeks for years 5-9 and 4 weeks for those over 10 years.


Medical Insurance – Great West:
a.) $10.00 co-payments with no deductibles.

Dental Insurance:
Idemnity Dental Plan- monthly contribution are taken from the second check of every month.

Prepaid Dental HMO Plan:

 

Employee only = $11.70: Employee + 1 = $22.21
Employee and family = $32.62

Life Insurance:
The company pays 100% of the cost of basic life insurance through great west life. The coverage level for administrative employees is two times the employees annual base salary up to a maximum of $300,000. This plan includes accidental death and dismemberment coverage at the same coverage levels as the basic life coverage.

Optional Short and Long Term Disability Insurance Program:


Short-term: Unable to work for more then 14 consecutive calendar days. company pays up to 60% of employees pre-disability base earnings up to a maximum of $1000 a week. The short term disability will pay a weekly benefit until the employee is o longer disabled or a period of 11 weeks, whichever is less.


Long-term: unable to work for more then 90 consecutive calendar days. The company pays for a “core plan” which provides 50% of the employees base salary per month after the employee has been disabled for over 90 days, up to a $3000 monthly maximum benefit.

 

Optional Supplemental Life Insurance:


Employee benefit: one, two, three, or four times annual base salary, not to exceed $300,000.

 

Dependant Benefit- Spouse: the employees spouse may also apply for insurance in the same increments and premium rates as the employee. The spouse can still be covered even if the employee does not apply.


Dependant Benefit- Child(ren): $2500 units to a maximum of $10,000. The employee or spouse must be insured in the program for dependant children to be eligible.

 

401(k) Plan:
6 month waiting period and contribute up to 15% of your salary. After that it is $0.25 per every dollar up to 6%.

 

Meal Privilege:
Managers eat on shift without charge.

 

Other Perks:
-After training employees will receive a bubba gump charge card with $50 credit every 4 weeks. Anything spent after that will be taken from your paycheck.
-50% discount of all food and beverage for yourself and up to three quests.
-$500 check for every manager that you refer that makes it through the MIT training program.

 

Management Profile:
They want people with at least two years in their current job, and no more than four jobs in ten years. They look for someone with very high energy, who is upbeat and has experience with decent volume levels (2.5 million and up). Volume really is the only BOH requirement (along with the understanding that there will be no room for creativity).
