EHS QUESTIONS

Brian Hirt

EHS Hospitality Group

Here are a list of questions that I recently was asked by a person interested in an office, I thought they were so good that I saved them to share with potential managing partners in the future. Hope these help.

• When was EHS formed?

Started EHS Aug 15th 1993----I did recruiting before that with Hayden and Associates. Before that I was in operations with Bennigan’s, Applebee’s and TGI’s. I bought and ran a restaurant before that on my own.

• Who are the principles?

Brian Hirt/Scott Rosenthal

• Where is the corporate office?

Sarasota, Florida

• How many employees?

Everybody is an independent contractor or managing partner.

• How many Managing Partners and in what cities?

Florida has Scott and Scott and myself which are partners 1/3 each and yes another Scott as an independent contractor-----Chicago has Jason who is a managing partner and Stephen who is an independent contractor-----Denver has John as a managing partner. The Mpls office has Harry and Paul as managing partners and Meghan and Meghan as an independent contractors. I am developing the Orlando market now with Mike Pierce who is the managing partner there. We are looking at some one for Phoenix as well.

• How many placements per year?

Our goal for a partner is 3-6 placements a month. Placements fees can range from $3,000 to$10,000 for restaurant recruiting. Hotel recruiting is a lot more demanding and fees are higher anywhere from $10,000 to $40,000 a month.

General Questions.

Setting up an office:

• How many square feet are recommended?

You can start out of your house and interview at restaurants or Starbuck’s and save money or an office 10 by 15

• It appears a great deal of time is spent on the phone, any specifications for phone service?

No, just a good local provider with a decent long distance

• Computer specifications?

We are running with 6 year old computers! We run off an ASP so you really just need a portal.

• Computer, fax, printer/copier, phones, cell phone, internet access, any other equipment needed?

No

Clients/Candidates:

• “15 to 30 work orders to start.” Will work orders be supplied continually and if so, how many and how often?

They will flux Florida has 60 job orders right now --- Mpls 40, Your mentor and I will constantly be going after new Job orders for you and we will teach you how to do it and eventually you will be doing most of it but in the beginning we try to do most of it so you can concentrate on recruiting candidates. But for example Scott in Florida just got me a job order from Landry’s for Mpls and I just got one for Jason from Famous Dave’s

Lots of good back and forth

• Candidates recruited through “cold calls”, personal visits, internet, and references, are there any other sources?

We supply HCareers resumes but $240 a month will be needed for Career Builder

• Who pays our fees, clients or candidates?

Clients

• How is our fee determined, flat rate or percentage?

Mostly we do a 10% flat but we do negotiate depending on the client and circumstances

• How much is our average fee?

About 4000

Other expenses:

• What additional monthly operating expenses are billed to me by EHS?

Your experience are the office if you choice to have one, phone, DSL, paper, ASP cost (135 a month) and $240 for Career Builder ads.

• Does EHS offer a group health plan for Managing Partners?

No but now that we are expanding I am looking into it and will see what I can do for us it might be cheaper as a group even if we paid our own.

Thanks,
Brian Hirt
